Saint Agatha of Catania - Saint of Sicily

We traveled to Sicily three times to gather information on the Saints of Sicily including Saint Agatha and we were able to be in Catania during the festival of Saint Agatha, which is quite an experience.

The faithful of Sicily are very, very devoted to Saint Agatha.

Saint Agatha has protected them against volcanoes and earthquakes since the fourth century.

We visited the Church of alla Fornace where she was burned.

Also, the Church of al Carcere where she was put in prison.

The Cathedral holds the veil of Saint Agatha (Miraculous) which stopped a lava flow from destroying Catania.

We gathered scenes from the annual festival of Saint Agatha.

The other Saints we encountered were Saint Lucy, Saint Rosalia and the Shrine of Our Lady of Tears.
